Upcoming Gigs I'm Going to

Growing up, I went to every gig humanly possible whether it was local or driving round the country catching my favourite band twice on one tour, live music with friends played a massive part in my life. I'm now at that age where financial and work respnsbilities means I don't go to many as I used to - I didn't go to one festival this year which is a first since I was 17. Having said that, for the first time in forever I have loads of gigs lined up and wanted to share my excitement and with any luck find new people to meet at one or two of them!

21st October - Jack Off Jill @ Electric Ballroom
JOJ were a riot grrl/goth rock band and one of my absolute favourites over the ages 12-16. They broke up before I even started listening to them so seeing them play was out of the question. But now, my teen dreams have come true and I'm going to see Jessicka and the gang with one of my best friends and meeting an old school friend who actually first introduced me to Jack off Jill. I haven't seen her in nearly 10 years so that's going to be awesome. To add to the excitment, I've recently found out Skinny Girl Diet are supporting too!

19th November - Marilyn Manson @ Eventim Apollo
After blitzing through his autobiography in a day and being gutted that I didn't go to Download this year as Marilyn Manson were headlining the Encore stage (despite being well worthy of being the top of the main stage bill), I was excited to hear a tour announced and Amy text me as I was flying to Rome to say we had tickets - that was a good day.

4th December - The Story So Far @ Koko
Hailing from California, TSSF are a pop punk band with catchy choruses. I've already seen them a couple of times before but the first was at Slam Dunk festival and the second was supporting Hit The Lights so it'll be cool to see a full headline set. Also, they've since released two albums so I can't wait to hear them live.

14th January 2016 - Alien Ant Farm @ Electric Ballroom
My friends can vouch for the fact that for the past 5 or so years, I've said that Alien Ant Farm of "Movies" and "Smooth Criminal" 2001 fame should come and do the album those songs come from, ANThology from start to finish. Just last week this very show was announced and I picked up tickets. I doubt their performance will be great but it will be nostalgic to sing along to these old classics.
19th January 2016 - Cancer Bats @ Sub 89
I've lost count of how many times I've seen hardcore giants Cancer Bats as they always seem to play Reading Festival and this is their second time of playing my local venue but they never disappoint and loads of my friends will be going. With a catalogue of sixth albums behind them now, it'll be interesting to see what songs they choose for their set. As long as "Sorceress" features on there somewhere, I'm happy!

Despite the above list mostly being made up of old bands and all of similar genres, I do love an eclectic mix and I'm hoping I get to add Laura Marling, Alt-J, FKA Twigs added to this list soon. In terms of festivals, I'v got my fingers crossed that the Download and Bestival 2016 line ups deliver!

Are you going to any gigs soon?
