I managed to read 38 books in 2014, on the whole my book choices were pretty good - I struggled to pick a top 5. Note, these are just books I read last year, they weren't necessarily released in 2014.
Bad Feminist - Roxane Gay
Completely unlike what I expected it to be, in the best possible way. An eloquently written collection of essays on feminism and Women of Colour - real food for thought. Full review coming soon over at Ultravenus (the feminist zine I write for - check it out!).
The Goldfinch - Donna Tartt
This was the final book I read last year and it was one of the best. I have a review post ready to go live so, you'll have to wait until next week to find out more.
If I Stay - Gayle Forman
I'm often driven to read a book, by the fact it was made into a film. This, and my not so guilty pleasure of teen lit was what led me to If I Stay. Incredibly moving and will strike a chord with anyone who has lost a loved one, one I finished in just a day.
The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell - Marilyn Manson
I've been a Manson fan since I was at school so have been meaning to read this for a long time. It's amazingly written and he's led a wild lifestyle - I couldn't put it down and consequently it was another one that was done in a day.
The Happiness Project - Gretchin Rubin
I actually covered this in a post you can read here but, in short, it's great inspiration to make small everyday changes to your life in order to make yourself happier.
Runner ups: I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak & The Wolf Of Wall Street by Jordan Belfort.
